SEO MISTAKES TO AVOID

What is SEO? SEO is Search Engine Optimization. Google, Yahoo and Bing [formerly MSN] crawl through content of your article, blog, website, etc., and look for valuable and relevant content. SEO is what gets you in the top 10 positions on the left side of the page when it is opened up. It is referred to as generic listings. On the right side of the page you will see little boxes or ads, and those are what is considered PPC [Pay Per Click]. Every time you click on those, the advertiser pays Google, Yahoo or Bing (depending what search engine you are using).

The crawlers that are looking for good content go from left to right, so it is important that your title and article have keywords that these crawlers can pick up and are relevant to your article/blog/site.

There are basically 5 mistakes that most people make when they are trying to optimize for SEO content.

Mistake #1: Keyword Stuffing. This is the overuse of keywords that identify the content of your website, blog, article, etc. If you “stuff” too many keywords into your title and/or your headline, and/or article, the crawlers will reject it. “Stuffing” is just as bad as not having any keywords. Either way will not get your article ranked. The bottom line — too many keywords in your title will not give you the results that you want.

Mistake #2: Missing Keywords. Totally leaving out keywords, or not having relevant keywords will not get you ranked either. The first two words of the Title need to have or be part of the keywords — Google reads from left to right when searching for content. Why is ranking so important? If you don’t get ranked, your website, blog, article will not get found. If you can’t be found, all your work and time and effort you put into it will be in vain. All your content is out there somewhere , floating in cyber space!! You can search the relevancy of the keywords that you want to use by going to Free Keyword Suggestion Tool from Wordtracker, or by using Google Keyword Tool, both of which are free. Remember, without the proper keywords on your title/headline, the chances of you getting ranked high enough for people to find your website is slim to none.

Mistake #3: Missing Description. By always using descriptions on your blog posts allows for better rankings and click through. Be brief, but descriptive. Remember — people scan quickly! If they can’t find what they are looking for, in 2 seconds they are gone! Whether it is in your title or in the content, descriptions are key on having people find what they are looking for. For example, if your website is for a restaurant, you want pictures, a menu and maybe even some recipes for favorite dishes. CAPITALIZATION isn’t not good for descriptions, especially in titles. Your description needs to be relevant.

Mistake #4: Simple Anchor Texts. You can have the best written article in the world, and if you don’t have anchor texts that backlink to your website, then the article is not doing what you want it to do — have people come to your site and buy whatever it is you are selling. This is probably the most common overlooked mistake. For example, if you are having people go to your landing page, and you simply have a click through or backlink that says “Click Here”, it really isn’t compelling. However, if it says something like “I Want Paul’s Growing Formula To Success”, it is more compelling and appealing for people to click through. Also, always make sure that you add backlinks to others websites or your websites.

Mistake #5: Title Tags. The title of your page or post that you want to rank is the single most important factor when it comes to on-page optimization. Take some time and put some thought into your title and keywords. For example, the title of this post is SEO Mistakes to Avoid. The first two words rank high in keywords that are being searched, in fact the whole title ranks high.

So now you know! When first starting out, keep your title and keywords simple, and check them to see how competitive they are. As time goes on, and you get more skilled, go for those competitive keywords.

Traffic Python Review

Traffic Python is a new site that says it guarantees more CONVERTING web visitors and online advertising with very little effort or cost.  So I decided to put it to the test…

My first impression was the site looks professional and clean, with an attractive look and feel.  It is easy to read and understand.  Joining the site was easy and painless–they do offer 2 upgrade options but they are not required to gain the benefits.

The Members Area is very well laid out and intuitive–I could figure out what to do after only a few minutes and was able to get up and running in less than 5 minutes.  Inside the site, you create links and ads–the links you simply enter any URL links you use into the generator and it transforms them into “Traffic Python” links.  You create ads for anything you want to promote using the Traffic Python Ad Generator, which is very easy to use.  You can create as many links and as many ads as you like.  And they are organized in a logical way–links are displayed in the order you create them but also your 5 most recent links appear on the main page for quick reference.  Also, since the link generator is the tool you’ll use most, it is also right at the top of the main page when you login.  Very smart!

After you’ve created at least 1 link and 1 ad you can start to generate traffic.  Just use and promote the new Traffic Python link instead of the original source link you had.  Every time the Traffic Python link is clicked, the page loads followed by a cool slide-up ad window at the bottom.  It displays an ad PLUS an image with your affiliate link that goes back to Traffic Python.  So if anyone clicks the Traffic Python image they see the site, and if they signup they become your referral.  It’s a great viral feature because you can build referrals without even trying to just by using the site.

Now every time the ad window displays (your Traffic Python links get clicked) you earn credits that get YOUR ad displayed in the ad windows when other members’ links get clicked.  So the more clicks, the more times your ads get displayed.

And this works virally–meaning as you make referrals into Traffic Python (either by promoting it or just using it and visitors click the Traffic Python image on the ad window to join) you also earn ad credits on THEIR link clicks.  And this works up to 5 levels deep.  So you can create a massive amount of free ad views and web traffic by referring others to Traffic Python also.

I didn’t get to test the full effect of a big downline yet (I just got the tool) but I can tell you the rest of the site works exactly as stated–my links got clicked, I earned credits, and my ads got displayed.  Traffic Python even tracked my results so I know how many clicks and how many ad displays.  That was an impressive unadvertised extra feature.

There is one more benefit and feature which might be the best of them all–downline emailing.  You can email your downline with offers, promotions, or whatever you like, and here is where Traffic Python really shines.  They took time to make the emailing often enough that it’s valuable as a user, but no so often that it’s a burden to your downline.  But the best part about this feature (and actually the credit earning too) is that it tells you exactly how long until you can mail again.  Now THAT’s cool.

Overall I have to say I am impressed with Traffic Python.  It is simple yet powerful, and delivers on its promises.  Highly recommended to anyone who wants to increase traffic and advertising.

Promote Your Business through a Directory Submission Service

It is said that the best and most affordable way wherein a website owner can increase the back links of their sites, is through directory submission. This process is one of the important aspects in the link building approach and is widely used to improve search engine ranking. The directory listing helps generate more traffic, and therefore increases the number of clients visiting your site.  Using an expert directory submission service will enable you to find the right directories, which perfectly meet the theme of your website.

These directory services are a great way of promoting a website, which has just been created.  It is important not to submit the same web URL more than once and not to hide your listings either. It is a good idea for a website owner to stick with manual submission, since it’s possible that automatic submissions may be banned if there is a use

Will SEO or PPC work best for your Internet Business?

The online society is certainly a large market place that you cannot ignore, especially if you have an internet business. There are thousands if not millions of consumers that you can tap into on the internet.

Conversely, competition is robust. If you can access the internet and have a little time you can have an online business, making it somewhat challenging to get your product or services seen.

Building a good site is not enough to get your business running and able to compete. You must look at other alternatives to give the online community a way to access your website at any rate or chance possible to ensure success.

You have to expose your site. Make it known. It has to be visible. It has to be repeatedly visited by your target market.

Invest in your site. There are essentially two options available to you, SEO and PPC. These two are almost certainly the most advantageous solutions you can get for your internet business as a strategy for search engine marketing.

1. SEO

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. Research shows that 60% – 70% of internet surfers and users actually resort to using search engines like Google to find and locate websites and pages, for any topic they desire. SEO is the process taken to make sure that the internet users will find your website when ranked among the top results of a particular search. This way you can make sure that you will be visible and clearly stand out from the rest.

Promoting your website with search engine optimization relies on the process of IBLN or “Independant Back-Linkning Networks” where hundreds or ideally thousands of other websites will be used to point or “link” back to your website. This can be very time consuming as you build all the backlinks but is definately worth the time.

If your marketing strategy involves time rather than money, then SEO is the best choice for you. However it is worth saying, this is not a fast process. Expect to spend 6 months or more working on this strategy. The benefits of this are long term, and relatively inexpensive to implement.

2. PPC

“Pay Per Click” or PPC can be a very effective way to create targeted traffic to your website. You bid against other advertisers to get your ad shown in the search page results, the highest bidder obviously will be shown first. When someone clicks on your ad you will be charged per click.

There is usually good reporting functions to enable you to judge your ad’s effectiveness. Most PPC providers allow you to specify your target market by topic, location or industry. This way you can manage your advertising campaign and stay within your specified budget.

There can be some guaranteed benefits when you maximize your PPC strategy.

1. Quick and simple to implement, with a large target audience.

2. Most PPC providers monitor fraudulent clicks making it less likely that you will end up with a large bill and no results. You can have peace of mind.

3. Easily manage your budget, when your specified cap is reached your ad will no longer be diplayed.

4. Flexible enough to stay current with changing market trends.

Both of these strategies have definite benefits and advantages. Take some time to set your goals, based on these and your resources choose the most appropriate method for your campaign. For example if you can afford to invest a couple of hundred dollars a month then PPC will quickly help you reach your short term goals. On the other hand, SEO will give you a more solid long term strategy but does require more time.

The world is out there for you now. Just make sure you do what will work best for your particular needs. The secret to success lies in your hands. Just study your options well and you’ll get exactly what you want.

SEO Sitemaps Give Websites a Boost

A lot of web pages will find an SEO sitemap useful in improving their performance.  SEO stands for “Search Engine Optimization”, the process that aims to create or revise Internet sites so that it can be better found by search engines.  The objective of SEO campaigns is to have websites appear in the top listing or first results page of search engines.

Internet search engines, such as Google and A9, maintain a very large database of Web pages and available files.  To do this, they devise a program called a web crawler, or spider.  This software automatically and continuously surfs and hunts content in the Web.  Pages that the spider finds are retrieved and indexed according to text content, giving more weight to titles and paragraph headers.  Spiders never stop navigating the web from page to page, to index the relevant content of the Internet.  Besides looking at the text of titles and headers, some programs are able to identify default tags and keep a library of these page keywords or key phrases in the index.

When a user connects to the Internet types a query, which is automatically interpreted as keywords, the search engine scans the saved index and creates a list of web pages that is most appropriate to what the user is searching for.

SEO will use all the combined techniques of keyword analysis, smart code, good content literature, link popularity study and website organization to place the subject web page as high as possible in the list of search results in search engines.  Web pages displayed on the top of results pages are assumed to get the most attention, and therefore, opportunity for earnings for web businesses and pages with sponsor links.

Search engines usually return a list of results ranking pages according to the number of Internet sites linked to them.  Results can be classified as organic, or sponsored links.  Sponsored links are shown prominently because their creators or agents paid the search engine.  Sponsored links are the main source of income of search engines.  “Organic” search results are the lists of actual results from the engines index and are directly related to the keyword typed in the request.
One of the more effective techniques of SEO is the creation of a well-organized site map in a website.  Since the site’s main page and other content are directly linked to a site map, spiders can more easily move through the website, identify the key words of the content, and index these for a search engine.  This is where the SEO sitemap helps the website creator or administrator.

Site maps are usually pages filled with links.  These are shown as tables or lists, although lists are generally more effective.  Writing code for SEO sitemaps is very easy and simple to format and maintain.  These are ideally basic HTML pages with default tags, logical titles and keywords scattered in the Meta description.  Introduction areas can contain more of the keywords.  The site should have a main heading for every directory.

http://www.web-development.moneybizhome.com

A simple list layout helps reduce unnecessary tags that might “hide” your keywords.  Some spiders give more weight to the following, than text in the normal body of the webpage:  heading text, content within link elements, text nearer the top of the page and the text written for a link.  Therefore, writing the keywords and links in these areas could somehow move up the web page’s ranking.  This goes for SEO sitemaps as well.

Web sites should be designed consistently, so navigation models should follow the flow of the site map.  Therefore, the first section in the site map should be the first link in the navigation bar.

In an SEO Sitemap, and most pages, the headings contain title attributes where more key phrases in the site map can be added. Keywords are generally well chosen and written in the body of a webpage.  However, in an SEO site map with little text, key words should be added as much as possible.  As much as possible, web links should follow web page titles, and must undergo SEO during coding.  Care must be exercised not to cram the page with keywords and links, or the page will be interpreted as blatant spamming and not receive any traffic at all.

There is no way to guarantee that a website will be shown in the topmost ranking of “organic” search results for an extended period of time.  However, smart and responsible SEO sitemap techniques can be used to place the website high up in the search position.  Regular monitoring and adjustment of the SEO Sitemap and search results would ensure that a website is kept near the top ranking and receiving lots of web user traffic.
